Meet Coach

Santiago Ortiz

CERTIFIED Sports Performance coach & Personal Trainer

My passion for strength and conditioning was gifted to me through one of my high school basketball coaches. The time I spent strength training with this coach changed my life. It was thanks to him and the weight room that I made this connection: Hard Work = Positive Outcomes. Now, every day, I am reminded that such is true in everyday life.

Growing up I played many sports, but basketball was where my attention stayed during my high school years.  Through basketball and a mentor, I found my passion for personal growth and strength and conditioning.  This passion sent me on a journey to pursue a higher education first at Fort Lewis College and then finally, Colorado State University.  During my final semester at CSU, I was fortunate enough to conduct an internship at Landow Performance in Centennial CO.  I spent 4 months assisting the coaches there with their NFL/Pro Day Preparation Training Group, private/group sports performance sessions, combat sports strength and conditioning sessions, and so much more.  Upon completing that internship, I graduated from CSU in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science.  Following graduation, I took on the challenge of running the strength and conditioning program for a High School Football Team in Greeley, CO.  In the Spring of 2020, I traveled to Valencia, Spain to conduct another internship.  This time with a Soccer Club called Torre Levante.  There, I was able to gain experience learning practices in injury prevention, return to sport, and performance training. When I returned to the United States I continued as the strength and conditioning coach for the same football team mentioned above, studied for and obtained my CSCS, and dabbled in the real estate world as a licensed mortgage lender.  Now, I have finally found a home here at Pursuit where I can chase my dreams as a Sports Performance Strength and Conditioning Professional

My passion for strength and conditioning stems from my experiences being an underdog growing up.  I was never the biggest, fastest, strongest athlete but I made up for it with my work ethic.  Utilizing strength and conditioning training, I became the better athlete and earned playing time over upperclassmen and more gifted athletes.  I want to be able to help athletes unlock their own potential and obtain their goals that the world discredits. I want to help people find the confidence and resilience I found through training. The success in one’s sport that comes with strength training is great, but the most important lesson learned is simple.

Hard Work = Positive Outcomes

I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Exercise Science from CSU. I also hold the Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) from the NSCA. I am constantly in pursuit for my next certification, so ask me what I am working towards next. When I am not studying, I enjoy playing basketball and volleyball. If I am not playing sports, I am on an adventure in the wild with my dog Rooster.
